Comprehensive Dentistry Down
During a dental evaluation, x-rays allows dentists and dental hygienists to look at what is going on beneath the surface of the teeth in a way that they cannot do when they’re examining them from the outside. Dr. Roth & Dr. Schuetz use this information to detect hidden dental issues and, in the event that there are issues, create and implement a treatment plan. Ultimately, these routine x-rays save you time, money, pain from dental disease, and ensure your ongoing oral health.
Our hygienist and dentists will evaluate your dental and medical history and consider your symptoms, your age, and your disease risk. New patients should receive dental x-rays to serve as a starting point for the dentist. He will utilize the information to build your dental history and keep an eye on your health for years to come. A few x-rays, called bite-wing x-rays (these are x-rays that show the top and bottom teeth biting together) are recommended once or twice a year.
Here’s a partial list of Issues that dental x-rays reveal:
- Cancerous and non-cancerous tumors.
- Abscesses or cysts.
- Bone loss.
- Decay between the teeth.
- Developmental abnormalities.
- Poor tooth and root positions.
- Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line.
